Hi! My name is Carrie-Ann. I live in the North East of England where I am a professional artist / illustrator. I particularly love drawing bright, cheerful pieces that make people happy and I'm super happy to launch my new website, featuring my work on cards, prints and gifts.
I've been interested in art since I was a child. I remember sitting on the floor at my grandparents house, with a huge sheet of paper, pens and pencils. I went on to study art at school and college. During years working in retail I was missing being creative and began making greeting cards using embellishments. My little business began in 2011 and has changed and developed over the years. I now use my own illustrations on the items I create.
I draw original illustrations straight from my imagination, from inspiring sources or the world around me. From pencil drawings of animals to scenic illustrations using artists pens. Nature and Guinea Pigs often feature in my work as I enjoy going for walks and we had Guinea Pigs for around 10 years. We also have a Leopard Gecko named Osric. I'm part of our local bat group where I'm a volunteer Bat Carer. Once you've seen a Bat up close, you'll notice how cute and delicate they are! I focus on drawing what I'm passionate about, usually with an animal, nature or music theme.
I've been told that my drawings are reminiscent of ilustrations in children's books. It's nice to think that they remind people of that enjoyment you get from discovering books for the first time as a child. From there I wrote and illustrated my own Kid's Books: "Biscuit the Guinea Pig visits Durham Cathedral" and "A wonderful Guinea Pig Christmas" I have some non-Guinea Pig related stories lined up too!
I only use the best quality art materials. Polychromos Pencils on Fabriano Artistco Paper are my favourite for realistic-looking animal work and Promarkers on Bristol Board are my chosen materials for illsutration work.
